Welcome to the website of the Second Paris Spring Corporate Finance Conference, May 27/28, 2010.
The Second Paris Spring Corporate Finance Conference on May 27/28, 2010 was again a highly memorable event that continued the conference series after its successful launch in 2009 with the First Paris Spring Corporate Finance Conference. The conferences are jointly organized by HEC Paris and Université Paris-Dauphine, as part of the FBF Chair in Corporate Finance. The conferences and the FBF chair are made possible through the generous sponsorship by the FBF, the French Banking Association (Fédération Bancaire Française), and are held at the headquarters of the FBF in central Paris.
The Second Paris Spring Corporate Finance Conference drew more than one hundred participants, mostly academics from Europe and North America, but also from Asia and the Middle East. It was organized by Edith Ginglinger, Ulrich Hege, Bill Megginson, François Derrien and Antoine Renucci. We received more than 300 submitted papers from all areas of corporate finance, and the program of only 12 presented papers was selected by a highly prestigious program committee. The conference program with downloadable versions of the papers presented is still online here. Jean Tirole (Toulouse School of Economics) delivered a timely keynote address on the optimal design and the consequences of financial bailouts.
The conference was closed with a round table on Friday May 28 on "The Emerging EU Financial Regulatory Regime". It drew another ninety registered participants, many of them from industry and regulators. The panel included Alberto Giovannini (CEO of Milan-based asset management firm Unifortune), Pierre de Lauzun (Director General, French Banking Federation), Robert Stefanowski (Chairman and Managing Partner, 3i North America & 3i Asia), Jean Tirole (Professor and Chairman of the Board, Toulouse School of Economics), Eddy Wymeersch (Chairman, Committee of European Securities Regulators, and Belgian Banking, Finance, and Insurance Commission). The round table discussion offered poignant views and frank assessments of the pitfalls and opportunities of the European regulatory reaction to the financial crisis.

The organizers would like to express their gratitude to all program committee members, speakers, discussants, session chairs and panelists. Without their dedicated help and participation such a memorable conference would not have been possible. They are particularly grateful for the generous support of the FBF.
