Welcome to the website of the First Paris Spring Corporate Finance Conference, May 28/29, 2009!
The First Paris Spring Corporate Finance Conference on May 28/29, 2009 was a highly successful start of the new Paris Spring Corporate Finance Conference series. The conferences are jointly organized by HEC Paris and Université Paris-Dauphine, as part of the FBF Chair in Corporate Finance. The conferences and the FBF chair are sponsored by the FBF, the French Banking Association (Fédération Bancaire Française). The First Paris Spring Corporate Finance Conference was held at the headquarters of the FBF in central Paris and drew more than one hundred participants, mostly academics from Europe, North America, Asia and the Middle East. It was organized by Edith Ginglinger, Ulrich Hege, Bill Megginson, François Derrien and Antoine Renucci.
We received close to 200 submitted papers, and the program of only 12 presented papers was selected by a highly prestigious program committee that is listed here. The conference program with downloadable versions of the papers presented is still online here. Andrei Shleifer (Professor of Economics, Harvard University) delivered a timely keynote address entitled "Unstable Banking".
The conference was closed with a round table on Friday May on "The Financial Crisis and Corporate Finance" that drew another ninety registered participants, many of them from industry and regulators. The panel included Andrei Shleifer, Thierry Francq (Secretary General of the Autorité des Marchés Financiers [AMF]), Hubert Reynier (Vice-Director, Caisse des Dépôts et Consignations [CDC]) and Dario Scannapieco (Vice President, European Investment Bank).
The organizers would like to express their gratitude to all program committee members, speakers, discussants, session chairs and panelists. Without their dedicated help and participation such a memorable conference would not have been possible.
